Wedding Information & Advice
Photography takes time and care. It is important that you consider this when planning your Wedding day as the Bride and Groom as well as family and friends will need to be available to have their photographs taken at some point throughout your day.
Please read the advice and information below for you to be aware of regarding photography on your Wedding day. This is simply meant to help your special day run more smoothly and ensure that you get the images that you want.
Prior to the Wedding
I always advise you to meet with your photographer no later than one month prior to your Wedding. This is to view the venue(s), talk through your schedule for the day and decided where you would like the photographs to be taken so that the photographer can be fully prepared. At this point, I also like to discuss photograph options in more detail, mainly the group shots and it is often helpful to make a list for the photographer to work to. Obviously, I will do my best to capture all of the shots you would like but please bear in mind that this is dependent on the willingness and availability of subjects as well as locations and drastic lighting conditions.
Bride's Preparation (Options 3 & 4)
If your chosen option covers the Bride’s preparation on the morning of the Wedding, it is very important that the Bride is ready earlier than usual. This is to ensure that the photographer has time to take the appropriate photographs with the Bride and then leave to be ready at the venue to photograph the Groom and Best Man as they arrive.
Detail Shots (Options 3 & 4)
The detail shots such as the rings, flowers, shoes and accessories are taken as part of the Bride's preparation. If you wish to have photographs of these, the subjects will need to be available at the location of the Bride's preparation in plenty of time before the ceremony. If your option does not include the Bride's preparation and you would like photographs of the rings please discuss this with your photographer to ensure that they will be available at an agreed time for the photographer to capture images.
Ceremony (All Options)
During the ceremony I will capture as much that is possible in a non-intrusive or obstructive manor. However, you should be aware that photography is often not allowed during the full length of the ceremony and it is advisable to speak to the venue regarding photography first.
Signing of the Register (All Options)
Photography is also often not allowed during the signing of the register. If this is the case at your wedding, I will photograph the Bride and Groom posing with the Register.
Formal Shots (All Options)
Formal shots require the most organisation as there are more people involved. As the photographer will not know who everyone is, the assistance of the Ushers, Bridesmaids or appropriate will be required to gather the relevant guests for each shot. It is also advisable to agree a list of shots for your photographer to work from.
Private Bride & Groom Shots (Options 2, 3 & 4)
For the private and more intimate Bride and Groom shots please allow time to be alone with your photographer. These shots are usually taken on arrival at the Reception. If the couple are staying at the Reception venue for the night, the room is often the best location alternatively please discuss a suitable location with your photographer when you meet to view the venue(s).
The First Dance (Option 4 only)
For this shot, the lighting conditions are often poor and very low. If this is the case at your Wedding, please be advised that the photographer will need to use a flash.
Please note that option references are applicable to package options from 10th July 2008
